More than 90% of patients who can visualize their oral conditions are better prepared to make health-related decisions, explore treatment, and discuss payment options. Digital health scans help the average person grasp the importance of their dental health and help healthcare providers make decisions easier to understand. Visualizing oral health connects oral health to overall patient health, which improves health outcomes, case acceptance, patient retention, and referrals.

What is the occlusion on the right? How about the left? What does this mean for your patient’s oral health? Malocclusion or misalignment can lead to oral maladies that increase the risk of tooth loss and periodontal disease. Malocclusion may also be a marker for airway issues, TMJ disorders, and migraines, significantly impacting the patient's overall health. Receding gums and tooth wear isn't something we should dismiss as "normal". Taking the time to research these conditions can help us identify factors leading to long-term damage, so our patients enjoy a lifetime of healthy smiles - saving them from painful procedures or high costs down the line.
Learning Objectives:
Program: 1-2 hours

Effective communication is crucial for the success of dental hygienists in any role. We take classes on public speaking but not listening. Cultural competence is a term that has been saturated in the news, in journals, and in the learning arena. In an increasingly diverse society, it is necessary for dental professionals to be culturally competent healthcare providers. But just how does a dental health care provider become culturally competent? Attaining cultural competence includes awareness and understanding of the many factors that influence culture and how that awareness translates into providing dental services within patients’ cultural parameters to ensure the best possible care for all.

We are typically advised to go with our gut and trust our intuition. However, going with our gut and doing what feels most comfortable can lead to devastating results in our relationships. Our autopilot of comfort is adapted from ancestral fight or flight. Yet, our world is speeding up with technological advances, team shortages, and turnover, and how we all understand and process information intensifies and affects how we communicate and solve problems. To solve our mental blindspots, we must debias our thoughts to improve our relationships.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify where judgment errors may be playing a role in our relationships.
2. How cognitive bias hindered us in the past is hindering us now and may hinder us in the future.
3. Develop a specific plan to address your cognitive bias.
Program: 1-2 hours
You must consider more than your passions and efforts to reach high performance. Why are some people miserable and others happy during their journey? High-performance teams begin with everyone understanding their internal standards such as their identity, beliefs, values, and expectations for excellence and becoming crystal clear on what that means individually and how that shows up in your daily excellence. This course introduces concepts of gaining personal clarity and aligning your internal standards to how you show up daily in your team.
Learning Objectives:
1. Set clear intentions for who you want to be each day and how you want to interact with
others.
2. Discover the skills that sustain your impact to make a difference and serve with excellence.
3. Define what is meaningful to you by aligning your purpose with your efforts
